Season change at market is a Fig Deal— how sweet is that? This week at market, you’ll see a continuation of fig season, with sweet Mission figs.

Did you know that a fig is not actually a fruit? It’s an inflorescence, a cluster of flowers inside a hollow tube. For more information about the amazingness of figs, check out the Story of the Fig and it’s Wasp.

Sometimes the best thing to do with a fig is to eat it fresh, paired with honey, pistachios, yogurt, or a slice of sharp cheese. Try Fig Toast with Feta and Honey.

• Foglia Pasta is back at market! Drop by for fresh, handmade pastas, raviolis, and sauces, made from scratch from local ingredients, with no artificial ingredients or colors.

• Welcome to market guest vendor Sourdough by Lana, who is here with sourdough breads, focaccias, English Muffins, bagels, and cinnamon rolls.

• Maruti is here this week, with delicious Indian food: vegetarian and vegan Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, and more!

• Wasco Fisheries is here with high quality fresh, smoked, frozen, and canned salmon! A Native-owned business, Wasco Fisheries harvests salmon on the Columbia River using traditional techniques that have sustained the local ecology for thousands of years. Wasco Fisheries is committed to care for the land and water for future generations, while supporting equitable access to healthy, locally harvested food.

• Have you checked out Gee Creek Farm’s value-added products? In addition to their produce, locally grown beans and grains, they offer a delicious selection of breads and pastries, as well as salsas, pestos, sauces, and falafel mix.

• Every Wednesday is Tamale Day! Sara’s Mexican Tamales is now located in a red food truck at the end of market near 20th! You’ll be sure to find all of your favorite Mexican dishes: tamales, tacos, burritos, pozoles, and refreshing Agua Fresca!
