Here at People’s Farmers’ Market, we’re definitely ahead of the carve! Now’s the time to practice your knife artistry— by selecting your favorite curcubit and sculpting it into a goulish face or menacing monster.

Historically, people hollowed out all sorts of vegetables to use as lanterns— aiming to frighten off unfriendly spirits. Turnips, potatoes, even radishes were carved into spooky faces, to light up the growing season of darkness.

At market this week, you’ll find a wide selection of root vegetables, gourds, and squashes for your culinary or carving delights—so it’s perfect time to practice up on your design skills. The challenge is on!

• Welcome to market, Sister Products! Drop by to welcome our newest vendor, and try out their delicious vegan sourdough breads, pastries, cinnamon rolls, and more!

• Visit Poppy’s Pdx for delectable fruit smoothies and vibrant veggie bowls.

• Sara’s Mexican Tamales will be in the courtyard this week with their famous tamales, tacos, enchiladas and pozole, as well as refreshing agua fresca! Wednesdays from 12:30-7pm.

• Grab a tasty lunch at Rosa’s PDX, a worker-owned sandwich business that offers an assortment of delicious, vegan sandwiches, made with locally sourced ingredients. Try their yummy mushroom skewers!

People’s Farmers’ Market is reviewing applications for new 2024 Fall/Winter market vendors, including farms, processed/packaged foods, baked goods, hot/ready-to-eat foods, herbalists, and more.

Returning fall and winter vendors will have priority for the 2025 season application, which will open for applications soon. To see our product and market guidelines and apply to be a vendor for the Fall/Winter season, review our application online.
