Alaska Wilderness League

I represent the Alaska Wilderness League and will be giving a presentation on the current state of our politics in regards to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge's "Coastal Plain" area. I will give a short power point presentation and show a short film about the Gwichin People and the area in question. Afterwards I will provide postcards so those attending can write letters to their congressman and local media to cover the story so it gets more attention. The coastal plain area is an important part of the arctic refuge where thousands of caribou go to birth their calves and millions of migratory birds go to breed and rear their chicks. The fight is coming to us once again over this part of the arctic. Big oil has wanted to open this area to drilling for many decades but it has always been voted down in congress or vetoed by previous presidents. This next battle will very important in the coming weeks and months as the Trump administration tries to move forward with a big give away to big oil.
