Food Justice: A Soul Food Vegan & Vegetarian Pop Up

Come enjoy a delicious Vegetarian or Vegan soul food dinner in the company of others who are either learning about the benefits of a plant based diet or already benefitting.

Learn a bit about how your food reaches your table with a brief presentation on farmers and laborers who represent marginalized people in Portland and the surrounding areas.

Along with good company, traditional soul food favorites will be served like: Red Beans and Rice, Smokey Collard Greens, Cornbread, Mac and Cheese and Sweet Potato Pie, all reimagined for a sustainable and just future. Gluten free options will be available.

Sliding scale tickets $10-25. Look forward to seeing you soon!

Rachelle Dixon is a lifelong "foodie" and a caterer at her company, Antilles Pearl Catering in Portland Oregon. Rachelle cooks with soul to prepare meals that are deeply satisfying and has been doing so for over 3 decades.

The skills she learned from her Mother, to be generous in cooking and to let the flavors slowly develop, serve her well to this day. She works to make the dining experience an unhurried respite from modern life.

Her desire to remember her ancestors on different shores shows up in the flavorful, colorful dishes she prepares for her guest. The food speaks to the culture of Haiti, Africa and the Arabuan Peninsula as well as Indigenous North America.
